Member resources
At St. John’s, there are many ways to help keep things running smoothly. As a member, there are some things you are automatically signed up for, but if you are interested in other areas please contact the church office at 218-927-3170.
ALTAR CARE
Altar Care maintains the chancel area for worship services. Responsibilities include cleaning the chancel, changing the paraments and candles, and preparing (and cleaning up) Holy Communion elements. This team also helps in making banners for baptism and confirmations, laundering altar linens, and helping wherever needed.
CHURCH COUNCIL:
The members of the Church Council are elected officers of the congregation. The Council meets quarterly to set the agenda for quarterly Voter's Meetings.
DEACONS:
Five men of the congregation are elected by the Voter's Assembly. They are concerned about the spiritual well-being of the congregation. They also assist the pastor as he carries out his duties.
FELLOWSHIP:
There’s always time for food and fellowship after our worship service. Help us serve goodies and coffee on Sunday mornings. There is a sign-up sheet outside the kitchen window.
EVENT PLANNING TEAM:
Do you enjoy planning fun events or meals? Then join the event planning team. They are always looking for new ideas to build relationships with each other and connect with the community through family days, meals or community events.
GREETERS:
Be the first friendly face visitors see as they walk through our doors. Greeters welcome people at St. John’s as they enter church.
PHOTOGRAPHERS:
Help St. John’s document all the great things we are doing. Send your photos to grets07@yahoo. with a short summary of what the photos are.
READER:
Help share God’s Word through the reading of the lesson during Sunday Service.
SERVICE GROUPS:
Upon becoming a member at St. John’s you are signed up under a service group. These groups serve at various functions of the church. As events come up, the service group chairperson may contact you to serve or to bring a needed item for an event/meal.
SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER / VBS TEAM:
St. John’s is always looking for more adults and teen volunteers to help.

TRUSTEES:
Three members of the Trustees are elected by the Voter's Assembly. They oversee the care of church property.
USHER:
Ushers help before, during and after worship services. They greet worshipers, distribute bulletins, pass offering plates, usher worshipers to take communion, dismiss the congregation, and tidy up pews following worship. Users serve on a rotating schedule.
VOTERS' ASSEMBLY:
The Voters' Assembly meets four times a year: January, April, July, and October. All confirmed members who are 19 years and older are able to become voting members.
