Frequently asked questions
HOW DO I SET UP A BAPTISM?
We believe that baptism is for people of any age — infants, children, teens or adults. Baptism is one of the ways that God works and strengthens faith in our hearts. Through Baptism our sins are washed away. Those interested in Baptism should speak with the pastor.
HOW DO I PLAN A CHRIST-CENTERED WEDDING AT ST. JOHN'S?
Helping you build a healthy Christian marriage is our goal — as well as helping you plan a special, Christ-centered wedding ceremony. Couples who want to be married at St. John’s should contact the pastor.
WHAT IF I HAVEN'T BEEN TO CHURCH IN A LONG TIME?
Not a problem! In fact, we don’t care if you've never been to church. Each weekend, we enjoy welcoming visitors. Our worship service is easy to follow and doesn’t require that you have any past church experience.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. Most people dress casually. We’re pretty sure what you wear doesn’t matter to God, so it doesn’t to us either.

WHAT IF I'M NOT LUTHERAN?
While St. John’s is a Missouri Synod Lutheran church, we welcome all people seeking to grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Being Lutheran isn’t nearly as important as simply having a heart to seek Christ. If you want to learn more about Lutheran doctrine, that’s an option. But it’s certainly not a requirement for attending.
WILL THERE BE COMMUNION? SHOULD I PARTICIPATE?
We offer Holy Communion on first and third weekends of the month. As a congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS), we practice closed communion. This means we invite to the Lord's Table confirmed members of this congregation and confirmed members of other LCMS congregations (please just inform the Pastor or a Deacon on the way in if coming from another LCMS church). If you are a guest from another church body, or if you're not sure whether you should commune, we kindly ask that you speak with the Pastor or Deacon before this service. This practice is not intended to exclude, but to honor the unity of faith and confession that Holy Communion expresses, as taught in Scripture (1 Corinthians 10:16-17; 11:26-29).

We would be most pleased to assist you in becoming a member. Please speak to the Pastor for more information on how to become a confirmed member.

Students at St. John’s begin participating in Holy Communion as 8th graders, after they’ve attended 7th and 8th grade Confirmation classes.
