Christian Education

Release Time Classes:

On Wednesday mornings from 8:30 -9:30 a.m., September - April, 4th, 5th, and 6th Graders from Aitkin Public School have an opportunity to attend Religious Release Classes at St. John's. Permission slips are sent home from the school at the beginning of the year. Parents who wish to have their child attend must sign and return the permission slip.

Confirmation Instruction:

On Wednesday after school, September - April, 7th and 8th Grade Confirmation Instruction classes are held. Luther's Small Catechism is the main text book. At the end of the two years of instructions the students are eligible to become communicant members of St. John's.

Sunday School:

On Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m., September - May, children ages 3 and up can attend Sunday School so that they can learn from the Bible Stories that are taught. Each Sunday School day ends with time for Closing Worship, where new and old songs are sung and an offering is taken to support mission work at home and abroad. Each year the students also have an opportunity to prepare for the Children's Christmas Service.

Vacation Bible School:

Each year, usually the first full week after end of the school year for Aitkin Public School, Vacation Bible School is held for students ages 3 - Grade 6.

Adult Bible Studies:

The following Bible Study opportunities are available:
  • Sunday Morning at 9:00 a.m. (September - May)
  • Tuesday Women's Bible Study at 1:30 p.m. (September - April)
  • North Home Bible Study (as scheduled)
